What does a simple country girl know about being a travel blogger? I love to travel, but didn’t do much of it growing up. It wasn’t until my honeymoon that I really began to gain some travel knowledge. Over the last 15 years, my husband and I have taken many trips and learned a ton. We have made mistakes along the way and learned many valuable lessons. And now, I want to share my experience with you, my readers.
Travel with Kids
My name is Christy. I am married to my best friend and have one son that has been traveling with us since he was 2 weeks old. As a family, we love to travel around the world and get the most out of each experience. We are firm believers in traveling with your children as early and often as possible. For us, the best way to teach our son about the world is to show it to him in living color. At 7 years old, our son has been to 3 countries, 18 states, and a U.S. territory. We rarely take a trip without him. He has logged countless hours in airports and the car. And through it all, I have developed many tricks to make traveling with kids easier.
Bargain Hunting
We are not rich people. We have learned how to travel on a budget. I am always on the hunt for great travel deals, and we save up for awesome trips. The biggest travel lesson I have learned is the importance of doing my research for any trip. This includes doing my homework to find the best prices to make the trips we want to take more affordable.
Disney
My favorite place to go is Walt Disney World. My husband, Chris, and I have been there 7 times since 2008. Our son has been there 5 times in the last 7 years. When we took our first trip to Walt Disney World in 2008, I spent countless hours planning and researching for it. I learned more than most people ever want to know about it! It made for a great trip! Even Chris was amazed at how well we were able to navigate the parks as rookies! I have stayed up-to-date on my Disney research. This has lead to helping many other people plan their Disney trips.
Sports Travel
We are also big sports fans, especially college sports. We spend a large part of our lives cheering on our respective alma maters, Notre Dame and TCU. A lot of our trips are sports related. In 2003, Chris and I began a mission to attend a home football game at every Division I college. We take several football trips every fall. After 13 years of football travel, we have these trips down to a science. We also travel to as many bowl games as possible. Sports travel is very different from other types of vacations. Those trips tend to be shorter in nature and have a very specific focus. Planning for these trips is a necessity.
Conclusion
Upon urging from friends and loved ones, I decided that I should share my travel planning knowledge on a blog. The main focus of my blog will be: Disney trips, travel with kids, and sports related travel. I will share some other useful travel information along the way as well. I’m glad you’re along for the journey. Enjoy the ride and happy travels!
