Sometimes the hardest part of planning a trip is finding the perfect hotel for your family. There are so many options and so many things to consider. It can be overwhelming to think about. And, to make matters worse, there are tons of websites for booking hotels these days. So, to make it easier for you to plan your next trip, here is my list of the best places to search for hotels.
I use these five sites to book my family trips all the time. Usually, I will look at all of them before making a final decision on where to stay. And many times, on trips where we stay in multiple hotels, I will use more than one of these sites to book our stays.

#1: Hotellook
Hotellook has recently become my new favorite place to search for hotels.
It is not your typical booking site. Instead, it is a search engine, similar to Kayak, where you can compare the prices of hotel rooms offered on several different booking sites. When you click the “book it” button, it will send you to the relevant booking site to complete your reservation.
Why I love it: I love Hotellook for two main reasons. First, it allows you to see the prices of various booking sites at a glance.
Second, unlike a lot of sites, the price shown on here is the total price of your stay. It calculates the price for all nights of your stay. It also includes all relevant taxes and fees. So, there are no surprises at the end.
One of the first hotels I ever booked through Hotellook was the historic Mansion at Elfindale. It was a great experience.

#2: Agoda
I found Agoda through Hotellook. It is one of the booking sties that is regularly featured on there. I have booked hotels through Agoda a few times now.
Their booking process is really easy to use. I also find their site to be very user friendly.
Why I love it: Agoda has a wide range of hotels, including large chains and smaller boutique hotels. Additionally, they run sales pretty often, so you can usually find a great deal. I recently booked a hotel on here for 85% off!
Plus, they offer a discount if you book more than one hotel in the same booking.

#3: Rocket Miles
Rocket Miles is another one of my best places to search for hotels. It functions a little different from the other sites on this list, though. It offers bonus airline miles with each hotel stay you book.
When you create your account on Rocket Miles, you will be asked to enter your airline loyalty program. As you search for hotels, they will show you the nightly price of the hotel and how many miles you can get for your booking.
I have earned anywhere from 500-2000 bonus miles for booking hotels on here. You can earn even more miles for longer stays or higher priced hotels.
Why I love it: I love that I can earn airline miles even on our road trips by using Rocket Miles. This is one of my tricks for earning miles without even flying!

#4: Hotels.com
Hotels.com is my husband’s favorite place to find hotels. We have used it for years. We have booked many hotel rooms through this site.
They have a larger selection of hotels than a lot of other sites and have competitive prices, most of the time.
Why I love it: The best part of using this site is that they give you a free night’s stay for every 10 nights you book on their site. This can come in handy when you’re trying to take a trip on a tight budget.

#5: Trip Advisor
Last on my list of the best places to search for hotels is Trip Advisor. While I don’t usually book my hotel stays through this one, I rely on it heavily for reviews and photos.
Trip Advisor has a lot more reviews on their site than most other sites, which gives you a better idea of exactly what to expect from each hotel.
Why I love it: I really like that Trip Advisor allows users to upload their own photos. This, plus all of the reviews, give me a much more accurate picture of what it’s really like to stay at a particular hotel.
Bonus: AAA
I’m calling my last entry on this list of the best places to search for hotels a bonus because you must have a paid membership to AAA in order to take advantage of it. So, it won’t be available to everyone. But, if you are a AAA member, this is another good one to use.
AAA’s website has a travel section. If you go to it, you can book hotels with a AAA discount. Sometimes, you can get an amazing price on a hotel by booking through AAA.
You can also book flights, rental cars, experiences, and more through their travel section.
Why I love it: Who doesn’t love to save money?!?! I am a big fan of any site that can save me money on my family’s vacations. And, while it’s not always the cheapest, many times you can get a great deal with AAA. And sometimes, you will get extra perks at the hotel with your AAA membership.
Plus, it is a trusted company that treats their members right.
