Do you or your kids love the Cars movies? Have you ever wished that you could visit Radiator Springs in person? Well, now you can when you visit Disney’s California Adventure at Disneyland! Here is everything you need to know about Carsland so you can have a great time visiting Lightning McQueen, Mater, and all their friends!
The Theming & Atmosphere
As you might imagine, Carsland is themed around the Cars movie franchise. And the theming is top notch. As you walk through this land, you will feel as if you just stepped through the movie screen into Radiator Springs. The entire area is rich with details that makes it come alive.
As you walk down the main street, you will pass the Cozy Cone Motel, Flo’s V8 Cafe, Casa della Tires, Fillmore’s Taste-In, and Sarge’s Surplus Hut. And you can actually go into most of these places and have a look around!
All around the town are the red rock formations, cliffs, and mesas that you will see in the movies too. All of this combines to give the entire area an authentic feel.
Carsland becomes even more authentic at night when the entire place lights up with neon lights everywhere you look!
And like all the most immersive lands at Disney, you definitely need to visit Carsland during both daytime and at night to get the full effect. The neon that comes on after the sun goes down takes the environment to a whole new level!
Of course, the rides are the stars of the show in any theme park. And the ones in Carsland do not disappoint!
There are three rides here. They are Radiator Springs Racers, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters.
Radiator Springs Racers
Radiator Springs Racers is, by far, the headline attraction in Carsland. It is one of the best rides in all of Disneyland. You definitely can’t miss riding this one!
Basically, you take a seat in one of the cars of Radiator Springs to take part in the most exciting day in Radiator Springs: Race Day! After getting your car ready for Race Day, you race another carload of guests through the mesas and valleys that surround Radiator Springs.
Each car seats six people: three in the front row and three in the back row. While this ride is a lot of fun for the whole family, you must be 40″ tall to ride it.
Because this is a popular ride, I recommend heading here first thing in the morning or towards the end of the night to minimize your wait time.
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree is a fun little ride that will have you laughing in spite of yourself. As you walk down the main street of Radiator Springs, you will pass Mater’s Junkyard on your way to Radiator Springs Racers.
After entering the junkyard, you will board a wagon being pulled by one of the little tractors from the movies. When the music starts, the tractors all twirl, spin, and dance around as they pull you along.
Kids love this ride. And it can be a lot of fun for adults too! The height requirement here is 32″.
This ride is not nearly as popular as Radiator Springs Racers, so you can hit it up later in the day and still not have a super long wait.
Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters
The last ride in Carsland is Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. This ride is much more fun than it appears at first glance. After we rode it, it was one of my favorites!
To learn some traditional Italian dances from Luigi and his cousins, head over to Casa della Tires. Once there, take a seat in one of the cars as they dance around.
Each ride is different because the cars switch between 18 different dance patterns. Sometimes, they dance in formation, sometimes they will dance with each other, and still other times, they will break out in their own unique moves.
This ride is fun because you never know when your car will unexpectedly change directions or show off a spin move.
Up to two adults can ride in each car. The height requirement on this one is 32″.
Like Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, you can ride this one later in the day after you race around the town at Radiator Springs Racers.
Having fun riding the rides can really work up an appetite. Luckily, there are two food options right there in Carsland. They are: Cozy Cones Motel and Flo’s V-8 Cafe. For a look at the full menu of either restaurant, see allears.net.
Cozy Cones Motel
Cozy Cones Motel is a quick service location that serves American style snacks. It is open for lunch and dinner.
Each cone offers different options. One has churros. Another cone offers ice cream. A third sells chili con queso. You can also find popcorn, pretzel bites, bacon mac-n-cheese, and more.
Flo’s V-8 Cafe
Flo’s V-8 Cafe is a quick service restaurant themed after the classic Route 66 diners. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For breakfast, you can get bacon and eggs, French toast, or chicken tamales. Your kids can also get waffles.
During lunch and dinner, your options include a burger, tuna sandwich, a club sandwich, fried chicken, and barbecue pulled pork. The kids’ menu includes mac-n-cheese, a turkey slider, and chicken fingers.
We ate at Flo’s while we were in Carsland. It was delicious comfort food that hit the spot perfectly! And the food seems to perfectly match the theme of the restaurant. I will definitely be back here again.
Of course, you can’t go to Radiator Springs and not meet some of its most famous residents! Both Mater and Lightning McQueen make appearances throughout the day in Carsland.
You will find Mater next to Fillmore’s Taste-in. Lightning McQueen typically hangs out near the entrance to Radiator Springs Racers.
There are three gift shops in Carsland. They are Radiator Springs Curios, Sarge’s Surplus Hut, and Ramone’s House of Body Art. All three of these locations carry Carsland and Cars themed merchandise.
Carsland is a highly themed section of Disney’s California Adventure park at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The whole area will make you feel like you just stepped into the movie Cars. From the rides to the food and gift shops, everything is right out of the movies. It is a must-do for any family! I hope you enjoy Carsland as much as we did!
