College football is one of the best sporting events in the world, thanks to the pageantry, rivalries, and emotions that go along with it. But, you can’t go to a game without tickets. So, where do you go to find tickets to college football games? Where is the best place to buy your college football tickets? Here are the 4 best (and safest) places to buy your college football tickets.
My husband, Chris, and I have been to many games over the years. We have gotten tickets from a variety of places. We have learned from experience the easiest and best places to find tickets to these games.

1. The Home Team
The best and most direct place to get tickets to college games is through the home school. They have the biggest quantity and best selection of tickets available.
At most schools, you can either buy the tickets through their athletic website or by calling the ticket office directly.
Most major universities start selling single game tickets in early August. So, even if your game of choice is later in the season, you should buy your tickets as early as possible in order to get the best seats.
Please note, however, some of the biggest schools will only sell season ticket packages or will require a donation to the school in exchange for the opportunity to buy football tickets.
If you find the game you want to attend is already sold out or that the school only sells season tickets or require a donation, never fear. Just move on to option #2 below.

2. The Visiting Team
Many people don’t realize that the visiting team gets an allotment of tickets to each game. These tickets are usually together in a block in either a corner or in the upper deck of the stadium.
You can get these tickets through either the athletic website or the ticket office of the visiting team. If you are a fan of the away team, this is the best place to get college football tickets because it will ensure that you are not sitting among the enemy!
Many times, this is an easier way to get tickets than going through the home school because of lower demand. This is especially true for popular stadiums such as Notre Dame or Nebraska.
We have bought tickets through the visiting school several times with great results. We once went to a game at the University of Texas. According to Texas’ website, the game was sold out. But, we were able to get tickets through the University of Colorado, who was the visiting team, with no problems.

3. Fan Forums
For another unconventional option, try buying tickets through a fan forum. These days, most college football teams have unofficial fan forum websites dedicated to them.
Many season ticket holders frequently use these forums to sell tickets they can’t use. This is a great place to reach out to people who may have tickets they aren’t using. Many times, you can get awesome seats at a very reasonable price.
You can rest easy knowing that this is generally a safe way to buy tickets because these are season ticket holders that are selling them directly to you.
The downside to this alternative is that you will need to join the forum. Additionally, it may take a little time to find tickets this way.

4. Ticket Resale Sites
Arguably the most popular place to buy college football tickets is through a ticket resale site, such as Stubhub. These sites allow people to resell tickets they are unable to use.
There is typically a large quantity of tickets on these sites, so getting your hands on some is pretty easy.
We have used these sites, over the years, to both buy and sell tickets. However, I would recommend using this as your last option.
The tickets on these sites are usually more expensive than what you can get through the other avenues listed above.

Conclusion
Attending a college football game in person is a fun way to spend a Saturday in the fall. It is also a fun way to spend time with your kids. It is one of my favorite family outings. But, you can’t experience the fun without tickets.
The four places listed above are the best ways to get college football tickets. Through one on these methods, you should have no problems getting tickets to the game you want to attend.
