A trip to Disney World can be expensive. There are ways, however, to save money on your trip. One way is to eat some of your meals in your room. To do this, of course, you need to have groceries. This can be difficult if you fly to Orlando. Believe it or not, you can actually get grocery delivery at Disney World. While there are several online grocery stores, the one we use is Garden Grocer. We’ve always had a good experience with them. Here’s everything you need to know about getting your groceries delivered to your hotel from Garden Grocer. (Updated February 13, 2020.)
Why have grocery delivery at Disney World?
The short answer is because it will save you time and money. First, getting grocery delivery at Disney World will save money on food in the parks. Eating in your room is much less expensive than eating at a restaurant. It can also save you money on baggage fees at the airport. Instead of packing things like sunscreen, toothpaste and other toiletries, order them online and have them delivered. When my son was a baby, I even ordered diapers and wipes so I wouldn’t have to pack a week’s worth of them in our luggage.
Having your groceries delivered will also save you time by allowing you to avoid making a stop at a store once you arrive in Florida, which can be a pain if you fly and don’t rent a car. It can also be quicker to eat in your room than spending time waiting in busy restaurants in the parks.
What is Garden Grocer?
Garden Grocer is an online grocery store in Central Florida that delivers to all of the Disney World Resort hotels and some offsite hotels. They can be reached at their website. You can order your groceries, pay for your order, and schedule your delivery date and time on their website or app. It couldn’t be any easier to stock your hotel room with food!
What are the options?
Garden Grocer has anything you would find in a traditional brick-and-mortar grocery store. They offer fruits and vegetables, milk and other dairy products, bottled water, soda, sunscreen, breakfast items, sandwiches, baked goods, toiletries, and even condiments! You can also order beer and wine from them. Additionally, they have organic and natural products as well. They carry most of the name brands that you would expect to find in your neighborhood grocery store at home.
Where will they deliver?
Garden Grocer will deliver to all Disney World resorts. They no longer require a minimum order, but you will have to pay a delivery charge of $14 if your order is under $200. You do not need to be present for the delivery. They will leave your groceries with Bell Services at the hotel. If you have any cold items, Bell Services will put them in their coolers until you are in your room to receive them. Garden Grocer is very good about packaging your cold items separately from items which can be kept at room temperature.
You can schedule your delivery during a certain time period on the day of your choosing. This will allow you to coordinate your delivery with your arrival at your resort. They also offer same day or next day delivery. The charge for same day delivery is $30 and next day service is $20. This is very helpful if you forgot something or have an unexpected need arise while on vacation. If a member of your family gets sick and you need an over-the-counter medication while at Disney World, this is a great solution.
We’ve had nothing but good experiences with Garden Grocer. We have used them several times during our trips to Disney World. Each time, I visit their website a week or so before our trip and place my order. I schedule my delivery and pay for my order at the same time. I try to schedule the delivery for approximately the same time as I will be checking in on arrival day. Most of the time, I order breakfast items, bottled water, and snacks. When my son was a baby, I would also order diapers and wipes.
When we’ve ordered from Garden Grocer in the past, our order has always arrived very close in time to us checking in. The last time we ordered, our groceries actually arrived before we did! Bell Services left everything except for the cold items in our room. They kept our cold items in their coolers until we were ready for them so they wouldn’t spoil. I have always been impressed with the condition of my groceries upon arrival.
More Tips for Grocery Delivery at Disney World
- Save even more money by placing your order with Garden Grocer 60 days in advance. This will save you 10%.
- You can also use Amazon Prime Now or InstaCart for your grocery delivery. I haven’t personally used them, but I’ve heard good things from others who have. My favorite is still Garden Grocer.
- Disney now charges $6 per bag for deliveries to your room. So, to avoid this, either meet your grocery delivery in the lobby or go pick your food up from Bell Services as opposed to having them deliver them to your room.
Sometimes, when you fly for vacation, you are stuck either eating out every meal or are limited to whatever is offered in the hotel gift shop. However, with Garden Grocer, you have the option of a full-service grocery store delivering whatever you need right to your hotel. The fact that you can order your groceries before you leave home and schedule a delivery time that is convenient for you is just icing on the cake! Garden Grocer does a great job.
