One of the best parts of a trip to Disney World is the food. There is nothing better than a nice relaxing meal to cap off a long day in the parks. And La Hacienda de San Angel is one of Disney’s best table service restaurants.
One of our absolute favorite restaurants at Disney World is La Hacienda de San Angel. My son and husband love it because Mexican food is one of their favorite cuisines. I, on the other hand, am not a huge Mexican food fan, but do love a good dessert. Luckily, we can all agree on La Hacienda de San Angel.

Theme/Decor
Surprisingly, the decor of La Hacienda isn’t that of your typical Mexican restaurant. The walls aren’t covered with colorful Mexican blankets and sombreros. The tables aren’t covered in Mexican tiles either.
Instead, the restaurant is decorated with neutral walls, rich colored fabrics in modern stripes, and dark wood. In small areas scattered around the restaurant, you will see displays of Mexican pottery and brass plates. The light fixtures are gorgeous 3D stars. This is basically a more sophisticated and modern take on the Mexican decor.
La Hacienda is located on the water side of the World Showcase promenade of Epcot’s Mexico pavilion. One entire wall of the restaurant is made up of floor-to-ceiling picture windows which overlook World Showcase Lagoon. And this view is the focus of the entire restaurant.
The entire restaurant is designed to draw your eye to the view outside instead of to the restaurant’s interior. This makes for a very tranquil atmosphere inside the restaurant.

Location
Like I mentioned above, La Hacienda is located in Epcot in the Mexico pavilion, across the promenade from the pyramid. This is a great location for a couple of reasons.
First, it is really convenient if you are already in Epcot. Secondly, because Mexico is one of the first countries you come to when you enter World Showcase, it is not a terribly long walk from the front of the park. Thirdly, due to its location at the water’s edge, if you can score a late reservation time, you may be able to watch the nighttime fireworks show while eating.
The downside to the restaurant being located inside a park, however, is that you must have park admission to dine here.

Food
You have probably guessed by now that La Hacienda de San Angel serves Mexican food. And, to be perfectly honest, It is so good! I’m not crazy about Mexican food, but this is some of the best I’ve ever eaten. It is not your typical Mexican food, however. The dishes are more of a gourmet take on your classic Mexican dishes.
On the menu, you will find such options as snapper with roasted tomatillos and queso fresca, sirloin steak with a tequila butter cascabel pepper reduction, and shrimp tacos with a chipotle lime aioli. For kids, you can get tacos, quesadillas, and chicken tenders.
I had the sirloin steak the last time we ate at La Hacienda. It is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The steak was so tender and flavorful. My son loved the quesadillas he had. And my husband thought his snapper was delicious. For dessert, we had the apple empanadas, which were wonderful.

Entertainment
There is no entertainment at La Hacienda de San Angel. However, because of the windows and great views of the water, you don’t really need any.
Even if you aren’t dining late enough to watch the fireworks, you can still enjoy the view of the water and the Friendship boats traveling across World Showcase Lagoon. It is nice and quiet inside the restaurant which is a nice break from the crowds outside.
Disney Dining Plan/Cost
La Hacienda does participate with the Disney Dining Plan. It will cost you one table service credit per person to eat here. If looking purely at the monetary value, this is an average use of your dining credits. However, if you factor in the value of the experience, the taste of the food, and the view, you will probably find, like we do, that this is a good use of your table credits.
If you are paying out of pocket, you can expect to pay between $15-30 per person for this meal.

Conclusion
In short, La Hacienda de San Angel is super yummy. Since we discovered it a few trips ago, it has become a must-do restaurant on every trip. The restaurant serves a modern twist on Mexican food, which is full of flavor.
The decor also has a modern feel that is more subdued than the typical Mexican fiesta look you are used to seeing. The views out the windows are beautiful. This place gives you a nice break from the heat and crowds while also filling your belly with some awesome grub. I highly recommend La Hacienda for your next trip.
