There are a ton of places to get food in Disneyland. The choices range from cheap eats you can grab and go to expensive meals meant to sit and savor. So, how do you choose? If you are in Disney’s California Adventure and are looking for a good quick-service restaurant that will please your whole family, then look no further than Smokejumpers Grill. It is a solid choice for kids and adults.
Smokejumpers Grill is located in the Grizzly Peak section of California Adventure. It is conveniently located next to Soarin, just inside the entrance to Grizzly Peak. Because the restaurant is not too far from the main thoroughfare into the park, it is a good choice if you are looking for a place to eat as soon as you enter the park.
The menu at Smokejumpers Grill includes theme park basics, such as chicken tenders and cheeseburgers. But, it also features some unique burgers, such as the spicy buffalo chicken sandwich with avocado-ranch and bleu cheese sauce and the bbq jackfruit sandwich. All of the entrees come with waffle fries. You will find chili and chili cheese fries on the menu too. For kids, the menu offers a burger, grilled cheese sandwich, chicken tenders, or chicken skewers. The restaurant’s dessert menu consists of s’mores, chocolate or vanilla milkshakes, or a cobbler milkshake.
When we had lunch here, I had the basic cheeseburger, which was good but nothing special. The waffle fries were delicious however. Chris ate the spicy buffalo chicken sandwich, which he enjoyed. He did feel that it was very spicy. Our son had the kids’ chicken tenders. He enjoyed them. The beauty of Smokejumpers Grill is that there is enough variety on the menu to please adventurous eaters, while also having some safe choices for picky eaters. The prices of the food at Smokejumpers Grill are on par with other quick service locations throughout Disneyland Resort. Entrees will cost you between $10-14 each. The side dishes, desserts, and kids’ meals are all in the $4-8 range. Beer prices are between $8-10, while nonalcoholic drinks cost between $2-5 each.
The portion sizes here are adequate, but are not big enough to share unless your group is just looking for a snack. But, there are more interesting snack options throughout the parks. So, I wouldn’t stop here for a snack unless you just need something to eat immediately and you are close by. However, you may be able to save a little money by splitting an entree and a side dish between two people.
The theme of Smokejumpers Grill focuses on the history of smokejumpers. Smokejumpers are the brave men and women who fight wildfires from the skies in California and the surrounding areas. The restaurant itself looks like an airplane hangar. The walls are adorned with artifacts, photos, and other items related to the profession. It all feels authentic without being too much of a museum. The theme fits in perfectly with the entire Grizzly Peak area and especially with Soarin’ next door. If someone in your family is interested in firefighting or aviation, they will thoroughly enjoy eating here.
Smokejumpers Grill in the Grizzly Peak section of Disney’s California Adventure is a solid choice for families to eat lunch or dinner while in the park. The menu is basic enough to please the picky eaters, while adventurous enough for those looking for something bolder. The prices are on par with other quick-service places in the parks.
