The Sugar n’ Spice Diner is a delight for the eyes. This is especially true if you have a soft spot for classic 50’s-style diners. But, it’s not all style and no substance. The food here is as tasty as the atmosphere is fun!
Over the last few years, we have found some amazing breakfast places across the country. But, the Sugar n’ Spice Diner in Cincinnati, Ohio is the hands down best one from Mobile, Alabama to Phoenix, Arizona. Keep reading to see why it should be at the top of your list of places to eat in Cincinnati.

The Food at Sugar n’ Spice Diner
As fun and retro as this restaurant is, the star of the show at Sugar n’ Spice Diner is the food. It is simply delicious!
Sugar ‘n Spice is open for both breakfast and lunch, but breakfast is definitely the highlight.
The breakfast menu includes pancakes (plain, blueberry, banana, or chocolate chip), French toast, waffles (plain, cinnamon, or blueberry), eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, and chicken and waffles.
They also have a huge selection of fluffy omelets. And when I say these things are fluffy, I mean they are FLUFFY! I’ve never seen such thick omelets!

The omelet menu includes varieties such as western, Mexican, Greek, garden, gyro, and Philly. My husband ordered the Greek omelet. He declared it the best omelet he has ever eaten in his life! He thought it was amazing!
I had the chicken and waffles. I can’t resist chicken and waffles! They are one of my favorite dishes ever! The chicken wasn’t the best that I’ve ever had, but the waffles were very yummy. I really enjoyed them.
The lunch menu has primarily burgers, sandwiches, and fries.
They also have a kids’ menu with grilled cheese, chicken tenders, pancakes, eggs, and French toast.

The Atmosphere at Sugar n’ Spice Diner
Sugar n’ Spice Diner first opened in 1941. Since the beginning, the restaurant owners have always prided themselves on creating an environment that is fun, cozy, and very family friendly. This vibe is the same today as it was all those years ago.
The atmosphere is meant to make everyone feel welcome, from college students to construction workers to families with small kids. This feels like the kind of place where you just want to sit and relax for a while.
While the restaurant looks like an old school diner, it adds a few twists to the look. For instance, Sugar and Spice Diner combines the stainless steel elements of a diner with fun pastel colors.

And they have rubber ducks everywhere! When you first walk in the front door, there is a display of ducks right behind the hostess desk. And if you look around, you will see baskets of them sitting around on tables.
They have a tradition that everyone gets to pick out a rubber duck and take it with them when they leave the restaurant. So, when you ask for your check, your server will bring it along with one or more baskets of ducks. You can then pick out your favorite. This was such a fun addition to breakfast!

Location, Prices, and Operating Hours
There are actually 3 Sugar n’ Spice Diner locations in Cincinnati: downtown, Reading Road, and Blue Ash. Unfortunately, the Reading Road location is closed for restorations until Summer 2023. But, the Blue Ash and downtown locations are open.
The downtown restaurant is located at 1203 Sycamore Street. The Blue Ash restaurant can be found at 10275 Summit Parkway.

Both locations are open from 7 am until 2:30 pm each day.
One of the great things about eating at Sugar n’ Spice Diner with your family is that it is super affordable. Everything on the menu is $14 or under. And most items are less than $10. The entire kids’ menu is priced at $6 or less! This makes it super easy to take your family out for a fun breakfast!
