During family vacations, we all want delicious restaurants that have great atmospheres and are kid-friendly and affordable. And the Hub Restaurant and Ice Creamery in Tucson, Arizona checks all the boxes. Find out why it is one of Tucson’s best family friendly restaurants.
We ate at the Hub during our first trip to Tucson. And it was a hit with my family. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this downtown restaurant.

The Food
One of the things I love most about the Hub in Tucson is the wide variety of items on their menu. This is great for families because it makes it much easier to please everyone.
The Hub offers everything from sandwiches and burgers to mac and cheese, steak, pasta, and enchiladas. They also have salads, pot pies, and a separate brunch menu.
While everything we ate at the Hub was delicious, the chicken and scallion mac and cheese was definitely the superstar. It is creamy and full of flavor. The food here is fresh, filling, and yummy.
The Hub does not have a dedicated kids menu, but they do have several options on the menu that will appeal to kids. These include the classic mac and cheese, the classic burger, and the big cheese.
You can also enjoy a wide selection of beers, wine, and cocktails at the Hub as well.

The Ice Cream
The Hub is unique in that it is not just a restaurant. It is also an ice creamery. So, of course, you can’t have a review of this place without talking about the ice cream.
Not only will you find an ice cream counter in the front of the restaurant, but there is also a Hub Ice Cream Factory across the street from the restaurant. This is great because it gives you the best of both worlds. If you want a full meal before diving into the ice cream, head to the restaurant. If, on the other hand, you just want ice cream, head across the street.
The Hub Restaurant and Ice Creamery in Tucson makes their own ice cream from scratch. At even given time, you will find one or two dozen flavors to choose from. They rotate the flavors to always keep things fresh. The master ice cream makers also try to use local ingredients in their ice cream as much as possible.
There is a great mix of flavors of ice cream on the menu. You will find some classics such as cookies and cream, mint chip, and pistachio. But there are some more creative concoctions too, such as banana’s foster, coconut lemon cake, and honey lavender. And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also find some vegan varieties, including mango-passion sorbet.
The Hub also has dessert catering. This includes their ice cream and other sweet treats.

The Atmosphere
The atmosphere at the Hub Restaurant and Ice Creamery in Tucson is fun, and laid-back. It is a place where you can hang out with friends and family and savor good food and good company. It is as welcoming for college kids as it is for families with kids.
The restaurant has an industrial warehouse feel with exposed brick and duct work. There are banquettes framed with heavy floor to ceiling drapes. At the back of the restaurant, you will see a collection of table lamps hanging from the ceiling. And along one wall, there is a row of heavy ropes hanging from the ceiling and tied in knots.
Location, Hours, and Prices
The Hub Restaurant and Ice Creamery is located on historic Congress Avenue in downtown Tucson.
They open every day at 11:00 am. On Fridays and Saturdays, they close at 10:00 pm. On Sunday through Thursday, they close at 9:00 pm.
The food at the Hub ranges in price from $11-25. While this may seem a little high if you have small kids, it is well worth the price, considering the amount of flavor that is packed into each dish.

Why You’ll Love the Hub
We loved the Hub and I think you will too. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable, cool, and inviting. And there’s ice cream for dessert! What could be better than that!?!?
When you are on vacation with your family, you want to eat at unique restaurants that are an experience in and of themselves. You want to have meals that are memorable. The Hub is one of those places that you will remember long after your trip is over.
